The mighty region of Rheingau is among the most famous of all German wine regions. Its wines are majestic, firm, masculine, yet fine. All vines are planted on south-facing slopes on the north side of the river Rhein, and are able to capture the sunlight to ripen. The best estates here are Robert Weil, Franz Kunstler, and Wegeler.
