The Loire Valley is one of the most beautiful French wine regions. The region has breathtaking natural landscape as well as many fine chateaux, churches and monasteries. The wines reflect its cool northern climate – the whites being primarily the varieties of Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc, while the reds are of primarily of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. The principal Appellations are Pouilly-Fumé, Sancerre, Quincy, Vouvray, Montlouis, Touraine, Saumur-Champigny, Chinon, Bourgeuil, Anjou, Quarts de Chaume, Coteaux de Layon and Muscadet.
