Spatlese, literally meaning "late harvest," gives a style that is full-bodied and typically deliciously sweet and fruity. Spatleses from premium vineyard sites are typically explosive with fruit and minerality, giving a wine that is so pleasing to drink that one often becomes quite addicted to them. Some of the best Riesling Spatleses come from the Mosel in its most important vineyard sites: Wehlener Sonnenuhr, Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr, Bernkasteler Doctor, Urziger Wurzgarten, and Piesporter Goldtropfchen, to name only a few.
