The Urziger Wurzgarten is the Spice Garden of Urzig, and here, the soil is a mixture of slate and red sandstone, giving rise to red slate. This iron-rich red slate gives rise to wines that exhibit a spicy character and a certain boldness. The Wurzgarten is also one of the steepest vineyards in the world, and hence must all be hand-farmed and hand-harvested. These are definitely world-class Rieslings.
