Although the state is dominated by cool, wet Seattle, most of Washington's best wines come from the warm dry regions east of the Cascade Mountains. Robust reds are the specialty of this region, especially Cabernet, Merlot, and Syrah, but don't overlook the whites, which range from racy and crisp to rich and powerful.
