The Bailly family has been making wine in Sancerre, (located on the west bank of the upper Loire Valley) since the 1700's and it is now Jacques Bailly that is at the helm. The Bailly holdings are spread across 23 parcels and are grown in 60% chalky soils and 40% Clay. The different soils types allow them to both grown red wine, (Pinot Noir) and plant their Sauvignon Blanc in both types and blend them together, each soil bringing something different to the finished wine.
