This 2009 Valdiguie is really something. It has a brilliant neon-ruby color, a Beaujolais-like aroma. In the mouth, the fruit is nearly sweet to the taste and bursting with ripe strawberry and cherry flavors. The texture is round and yet there isn’t any heaviness to the wine. It is a fresh, delicious, fairly soft red wine that I’ve served with red meat, chicken, salads, sandwiches and turkey. You can even chill it a bit if you want. A marvel and a treasure. We owe Jerry Lohr a great deal of gratitude for continuing to produce this fabulous, affordable wine with the impossible name.
