Yalumba is one of the top sources of high-quality--and excellent value--Australian wines, and this blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon and 37% Shiraz is further proof of Yalumba's reliability. Although not often made here, cabernet/shiraz blends are common in Australia, and this example features the ripe chocolate and cassis notes of cabernet with the rich black cherry and blackberry fruit of a well balanced shiraz. Not at all overripe or pruney, and very, very tasty. No one can touch Australia for rich, mouthfilling wines at this price level, and this wine really delivers for lovers of big-style wines who still want balance and food-friendliness in their wines.
