When we bring a wine into The Wine Country it has to say something, it should move you. When you drink a wine from Tuscany it has to say “sensual earthiness.” I find in Meleto’s Chianti Classico that exciting and amazing earthiness that wines from Tuscany exude. Tuscany is arguably the most gorgeous part of Italy and when you’re outdoors there (why would you want to be indoors in Tuscany is another discussion for another day) you get a sense of calmness that I think comes from the soft and rolling hillsides of the region. Meleto is true to that terroir and the 2005 Chianti Classico is pure, yet intense and complex; floral, soft, round in the glass and mouth; and with tannins that work beautifully with the fruit. It will arouse in your senses memories of Tuscany or be the inducement to take you there.
