This well-known winery takes its name from a turn-of-the-century French schoolhouse that serves as it's winery. Since 1983 this has been one of the most successful and highly respected wine producers in Washington, and one taste of their 2006 Merlot will show you why. This is a classically structured wine with deep, pure fruit flavors of cassis and blackberries with just a hint of smokiness. Quite smooth and drinkable as you'd expect from a fine Merlot, it's also surprisingly complex and deep for a wine at this price. Consistently one of the best buys in Washington Merlot.
