Antonio Lamona – the owner of this winery – is the first in his family to bottle his own wine and, beginning in the late sixties, he began cultivating vines that are entirely organic. This Montepulciano is a great example of what happens when you match low-yield winemaking expertise with a prolific growing zone, and constantly cut, cut, cut back the vines. This is super juicy, with loads of expressive aromas. I always find that wines produced from organically grown grapes contain a certain amount of sophistication. This is no exception.
