After the very successful 2007 vintage of this wine became so popular with our customers, we kept our fingers crossed, hoping that the 2008 would be as good. Well, it’s now here, and if anythings it's even better and more impressive than the 2008. Part of the credit goes to the 2008 vintage in Oregon, which looks to be one of the best vintages of the decade. However, the folks at Klee deserve most of the praise, as they demonstrated their skill and the quality of their fruit in the more difficult 2007 edition. Most under-$20 pinot noirs offer straightforward fruit flavors, moderate depth, and no complexity to speak of. But this wine is considerably more complex and fragrant than most wines at this price, and offers more depth and better balance, too. It's a bit more substantial than the 2007, but retains the crunchy red-fruit flavors and hints of apple skin and strawberry, as well as the smooth texture that eludes most other pinots at this price point. Very classy.
