Washington's "Champoux" vineyard is one of the state's most famous sites, and this brilliant chardonnay shows the breed that the site imparts on wines made from its grapes. No malolactic fermentation or new oak masks the brilliance of this wine. Exceptionally crisp and vibrant, with a crystalline purity and delineation that is simply breathtaking, the wine tastes of a whole melange of citrus fruits (lemon, lime, tangerine) surrounded by floral notes. There is minerality, too, and depth, with a finish that goes on and on. Terrific now, but almost certain to improve with a year or two of cellaring. A mere 43 cases of this wine were made, which is a pity, because I could drink this all the time. Not to be missed!
