Since it was first recognized as a distinct winegrowing area in 1991, Monterey County's Santa Lucia Highlands (SLH) has quickly become one of California's most highly regarded regions for Pinot Noir. And one of the best Pinot producers in SLH is August West. Working with fruit from some of the top vineyards in the region, August West has crafted this delicious wine, a rich, smooth pinot that's overflowing with pure fruit redolent of fresh-picked berries and spice. The region is known for pinots that are exceptionally deep and silky, and this one epitomizes this voluptuous side of pinot noir, without ever becoming too ripe or soft.
