Oregon's outpost of the great Burgundian firm of Drouhin mades some of Oregon's finest and most traditional wines, and their Pinot Noirs in particular are excellent virtually every year. But I have to admit I was even more impressed than usual by this superb 2007 edition of their benchmark Pinot. 2007 could be a challenging vintage for the less than meticulous winemaker, but it suited Domaine Drouhin's approach perfectly, and the result is one of the most elegant, nuanced and beautifully crafted wines of the vintage. Perfectly balanced with deep fruit and firm but smooth tannins, crisp acidity and a wonderful fragrance, this is the epitome of Oregon Pinot Noir as interpreted by one of Burgundy's master winery's. Not to be missed!.

2003 Domaine Drouhin Pinot Noir Willamette Valley, Oregon
After being somewhat assaulted by the over rich, over extracted high alcohol Pinot Noirs I had been tasting from Oregon and California for that matter I was a touch nervous about burring my nose in yet another one but Randy called me over to taste so I went. AHHH! Delicious, gentle, elegant Pinot Noir on the nose, red fruit rather than black with a supple but light mouth feel. This is the kind of wine that drives Pinot lovers crazy!
