Roussanne, a white grape of the Rhone, is mainly a blending grape called upon to add zip to the white wines of the region. In sunny California, however, Roussanne is nearly as generous as Viognier, and its acidity serves it well. Like Viognier, the aromas are ravishing, as Zaca Mesa's fine example reveals.
