2005 was a cool year for Paso, and winemaker Terry Culton, “a Pinot guy” in the words of marketing director Paul Sowerby, has fashioned a terrific wine from this splendid vineyard. The SLO Pinot for about $10 less than Adelaida’s main Pinot, uses all HMR vineyard fruit. With a bit less amplitude as the main wine, it shows gorgeous cherry fruit and is plenty satisfying.
