Marlborough, on New Zealand's South Island, is better known for its sauvignon blancs, but some excellent pinot noirs are being produced there as well, and this one is both an excellent wine and a terrific bargain. Just loads of clean strawberry and black cherry fruit in a smooth, easy-to-drink package that tastes like it should cost at least $10 more. The flavors are similar to an Oregon pinot, but more classically structured, with excellent balance and more length than you'd expect at this price. A steal.
