Bonarda (known as Charbono in the U.S.) is the "other" red wine from Argentina, but if more people try this fantastic red from Maipe, we predict Bonarda could become every bit as popular as Argentina's Malbecs. It's a bigger, richer and softer wine than Malbec, with juicy blackberry fruits accented with spice and ultra-smooth tannins that impart an almost creamy texture in the mouth. Yet the wine is well balanced and with enough acidity to work beautifully with a wide variety of foods. And as a sipping red, Bonarda may even surpass Malbec on account of its rich, smooth feel on the palate. One sip and you'll be hooked!
