One of the first wines from the 2009 vintage in the store, this Argentinian Verdelho is absolutely delicious! The underappreciated Verdelho grape comes from both Spain and Portugal, but this version comes from the Portuguese version, which is a tad crisper than the Spanish style. This wine is very fruit-forward with surprising richness, hints of peaches and crisp green apples, and just the slightest hint of effervescence that provides great zip and freshness in the mouth. This is a terrific wine to sip on its own after work, and it would also work with any number of foods such as vegetables, chicken, fish. Could Verdelho become another Argentinean specialty, like Malbec? This wine provides strong evidence that it could.
