Former Sanford winemaker Bruno d'Alfonso built his fine reputation over the years largely for making top quality Pinot Noir. Now he's on his own and his new 500 case Pinot is called Badge. Half the fruit comes from Ashley's Vineyard and half is from the Rio Vista vineyard, owned by Richard Sanford himself. With an extraordinarily deep aroma of cherry and a touch of smokiness, it has a plush texture that expands to quite a mouthful of cherries and sweet plums.
