This vineyard, Ronchi, is almost entirely east-facing with most of the Nebbiolo grown on the upper slopes of the vineyard. Thus the word "Brich" used by Albino Rocca; Bricco, or Brich, means hilltop. This is a modern and very easy to drink Barbaresco with the wine aged 70% in French oak barriques (60% new) and 30% in 20HL oak casks for 18 months. The smaller French barriques add softness to the wine, yet there is Nebbiolo power to the wine. The nose is intense, with red and black fruits, some vanilla, spice and toasty oak. That intensity is present when you finally drink this, but so is the richness from the barrels.
