Like many white varietals, Gruner Veltliner can be tart and acidic or round and unctuous depending on the intent of the grower. In this case, the estate wants to produce a very good table wine without overripe excess, yet capturing the essence of the varietal. Grown northwest of Vienna and coming in at a refreshing 12% alcohol, it offers a charming aroma of delicate florals followed by a Sauvignon Blanc-like tanginess, minus the latter’s herbaceousness. It is a quaffing wine and more. Simply lovely and one of the finest values in our store. From the Terry Theise portfolio.
