La Staffa 2019 Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico, Marche
The La Staffa estate was founded in 1994 by the Baldi family in the Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico zone in the Marche province. Grapes are grown on clay and chalk soils in this hilly area.
Their 100% Verdicchio wines are made in a fresh and easy style. The wine is fermented in stainless steel then cold settled over the winter. It spends a brief time on its lees before bottling. Aromas and flavors of fresh and crisp stone fruits - peaches in particular - tangerines, both fruit and zest, and almonds. The finish is dry and minerally. An ideal pairing with seafood, rich cheeses, salads or dishes with bitter greens (raddicchio, collards, chard). Does well on its own, too.
