One of South Africa's internationally most respected winemakers, Adi Badenhorst has crafted a remarkably intense, pure, unique and complex red wine; a 52% Shiraz, 21% Grenache 18% Cinsault and 9%Tinta Barocca blend of old bush vines fruit that reflects everything special about South African wine. He uses the absolute least intervention possible - hand pick; whole cluster fermentation; no mechanical pressing; long, slow, spontaneous wild yeast ferment in old cement and well-used open top wood fermenters; long post ferment maceration and no filtering. The aromas are intense and wild – peppery, gamy, herbal, floral red and black fruits and the equally intense and pure flavors are all about bright red peppery fruit with that special only-in-South-Africa wild edge, yet everything is still supple and smooth. There is perfect natural acidity and strong but smooth tannins on the incredibly complex and long finish. Highly structured, it will evolve magnificently over the next 10-20 years in cellar. An astonishingly complex wine.
