Alain Jaume 2016 "Lirac" Rhone Valley, France
A pretty traditional blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Carignan but you can feel this is more than a basic Cotes du Rhone. Dense black fruit, dried herb mix, clay and earth right upfront. The palate is also dense but is settling into itself nicely with some time in the bottle. Big and chewy with firm but not hard tannin. Bring on the big meats!
