Alvaro Palacios 2018 Les Terrasses Priorat, Spain

Alvaro Palacios embodies the hope and spirit of 'The New Spain.' Along with Peter Sisseck's Dominio de Pingus, Palacios' L'Ermita is considered by many to be one of the most important Spanish wines of the modern era. One of nine children born to the respected Palacios Remondo family, Alvaro studied enology in Bordeaux, specifically at Chateau Petrus under Jean-Pierre Moueix. It was this experience that defined his philosophy of winemaking and the importance of truly great wines. 

Les Terrasses embodies what makes Priorat special. It is sourced from some of the steepest and oldest vineyards - over 100 parcels - here, many of them north-facing, avoiding the intense afternoon sun. The wine is about 55% Garnacha and 45% Samso (Carignan) spending about 13 months in French oak barrels.
