The Bachelet Monnot winery began in 2005, young relative to most estates in Burgundy but this team is quickly gaining lots of buzz and some serious, loyal followers. The wines offer generous fruit, flavors and aromas that are true to Burgundy, and only Burgundy, and they are giving us wines we don't have to wait a decade to enjoy. This Santenay come from a vineyard that is adjacent to a 1er Cru Chassagne vineyard and is rich in red clay soils which give this wine its brilliant fruit and expression. Wonderfully developed black cherry, smoke, sweet cured meat and a hint of herbs. The medium body make this a wine that plays nice with heartier seafood, like salmon but it really shines with simple roasts and mushroom rich dishes.
