Becker's vineyards literally straddle the border between Germany's Pfalz and France's Alsace regions. A quirk in the law allows the winery to claim all fruit for the Pfalz, so it won't surprise anyone that the style of this Pinot Gris is very Alsatian in character, and that's a good thing. Richly flavored, with a deep and correct perfume. Round and luxurious in the mouth, the attractive fruit is a bit brighter than most Alsatian bottles, and so is the steely, minerally finish. A noble effort.
