The Bitouzet family can trace their roots in Volnay back to the year 1804, and they were one of the first in the region to begin bottling their wines. This estate has a reputation for offering wines that can withstand lots of time in cellar. What I loved about this little Volnay was the fact that it is so giving, even this young. Nice nose of red fruit and hints of smoked meat. The palate has more red fruit but a bit deeper and flecked with notes of green and gentle spice. Medium weight in the mouth with a nice bit of fine tannin which gives this wine such a lovely structure.
