New Spottswood Releases

Not only is it one of the most wonderful times of the year because of the holidays, we also get to enjoy the new Spottswood vintage releases! This is the 36th vintage release from Spottswood and we were very fortunate to receive the 2017 Estate Cabernet, 2019 Sauvignon Blanc, and the 2017 Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon! These Classic Napa Valley wines make great gifts for every wine enthusiast.

2017 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is made up of 89% Cabernet, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Peitit Verdot. This vintage has a youthful energy and concentration with brambly blue fruit and graphite with warm oak spices and hints of plum celery seed and cocoa powder. Intensity and weight on the mid palate with layered depth.

The 2019 Estate Sauvignon Blanc is made up of 98% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Semillon but is matured in a variety of vessels. Different parts of this wine spent time in French oak, stainless steel, Amphora clay, ceramic, and concrete with some lees aging to lend a hint of creaminess to the body of the wine. Pink Grapefruit, pear, peach, citrus zest and lemongrass aromas leap from the glass. A palate that mimics the nose with hints of pineapple and grapefruit acidity.

2017 Lyndenhurst Cabernet Sauvignon; Lyndenhurst is what the estate was known as in 1910 for is beautiful Linden trees that bloom all over the estate to this day. This wine is made from some estate fruit as well as some other family growers in Napa Valley. Deep red fruit and bramble with aromas of fresh thyme, cedar, lilac, and juniper. Fine silky tannins with a lift of acidity that brings a dynamic and precise focus to the wine and a layered progression giving the wine plenty of longevity and life.
