2016 Ryan Patrick "Redhead Red" Red Wine
Columbia Valley, Washington State
Now that it's getting dark earlier in the night, our natural urges seem to change to red wines almost like flipping a switch. And, boy, this bargain red is a great way to light the place up!
Sourced from Washington State's prestige Columbia Valley including the Wahluke Slope, Clifton and Northridge vineyards, this juicy, full-flavored red contains Bordeaux varieties with a little Syrah to round it out. For those of you who care about such things, the blend contains 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, 17% Syrah and 5% Petit Verdot aged in American oak barrels (15% new) for seven months.
And the flavors really deliver. It has a wonderful balance of backbone and depth with hints of black cherry, blackberry, ripe raspberry and dark chocolate in the complex aromas and flavors. Seven months of oak aging impart subtle tannins that are present but not overpowering, allowing the ripe fruit character to be the star. This wine is smooth but doesn’t sacrifice depth or character, making it a supremely great value. A pleasant mouthfeel and a long-lasting finish await you when you purchase our October Wine of the Month.
