Bobal is one of Spain’s most planted varietals most people have never heard of. Grown in the higher elevation plateau regions inland from Valencia, Bobal produces bold, dark wines with plenty of tannins and acidity. Altolandon’s Rayuelo is a blend of primarily Bobal (70%) with Monastrell and Malbec being the remaining components. It has plenty of pretty ripe fruit, great tannic structure and some nice earthy undertones. Perfect with rich meats. Pair this wine with a juicy grilled steak or barbecued lamb.
