Cakebread Cellars 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley

Cakebread winery has been producing top-quality Napa Valley wines since 1974.  During the subsequent decades, the winery has acquired very good vineyard land which has given their winemakers more quality control and consistency.  Their wines are staples in hotels and fine dining restaurants worldwide.

Winemaker Julianne Laks created a fine bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon in 2018.  Deep shades of purple, and rich dark-red hues, signal that this is a quintessential Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. Aromas of ripe blackberry, boysenberry, dark chocolate and notes of oak precede balanced acidity and firm tannins. With forward fruit, and welcome mineral undertones, this is a perfectly balanced wine that is approachable now, yet will age beautifully. The grapes from throughout the valley that were farmed to make this wine, provide a natural diversity of flavors.
