Carmelo Patti is a revered 40 year veteran of the Mendoza wine scene and is famous for making truly hand-made wines in the most traditional manner. He literally does everything in the winemaking process, down to the labeling. One of the absolute best authentic old vine Argentine style Malbecs out there, this limited production, hard-to-get wine is true, pure, lithe, elegant and intense. Penetrating high-toned aromas of earth, minerals, cherries and strawberries lead to a flavorful mouth full of more berries and cherries. And oh-so-smooth! The weight in the mouth is just right and there is excellent refreshing acidity, with the very supple, firming tannins provide an excellent backbone. This will certainly improve over the next five years or so, but is delicious now.. And, of course, since it is an Argentine wine, made for beef.
