If you love soulful red wines, you may want to try this vineyard bottling from Breton. Bourgueil is Cabernet Franc country, a small, limestone-rich region west of the French city of Tours north of the Loire River, mirroring Chinon, its better known neighbor. Farmed naturally from 40 year old vines, Clos Senechal is one of Breton’s top wines. Bottled without fining or filtration after 18 months of aging in wooden foudres, the wine has a gorgeous aroma, elegant round texture, a touch of “animal” but not too intrusive in that department (I told you, it is soulful), and bold tannins in the finish. This is a wine you’ll remember for a long time.
