Chamonix Rouge 2014 Franschhoek Valley, South Africa
41% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 19% Petit Verdot, and 7% Malbec, This South African Bordeaux Blend is handpicked from various vineyard plots then destemmed and soft rushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks for two weeks on the skins. The wine is then matured for 18 months in older French Oak barrels, and then it is matured in the bottle for two months. The Rouge shows a deep ruby color and a generous aroma of black currant, cedar, with hints of red berries, spices and vanilla. Full round and smooth on the palate with rich fruit and length of flavor. Pair with roasted or grilled meats, game, pork, hearty casseroles and ragouts.
