Chateau Calon Segur is 3rd Growth in the 1855 Classification scheme. It is located in St. Estephe on the Left Bank of the Gironde Estuary in France's Bordeaux wine region, and is one of the most northerly of all the Grands Crus Classes of the Medoc. It is one of the oldest estates in St. Estephe, dating back to the Gallo Roman period, with wine production dating back to the 12 Century. There are deep gravel beds in this location along with some sand and limestone deposits on which the grapes are planted.

It was in the 18th Century that this estate began forming its modern identity. The Marquis Nicolas-Alexandre de Segur, who also owned Chateaux Latour, Lafite, and Mouton and established the finest history of the chateau. In future years it became Calon Segur and is now owned by the Gasqueton family.
