Chateau Duhart-Milon 2016 Pauillac, Bordeaux
"Blended of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot, the 2016 Duhart-Milon has a deep garnet-purple color and features plums preserves, wild blueberries and cassis scents with touches of violets and underbrush with a waft of tobacco. Medium-bodied and elegant, with a backbone of finely grained tannins and oodles of freshness, it has a great core of perfumed black fruit, finishing on an earthy note."

The Duhart-Milon estate is owned by Lafite-Rothschild, making this another perfect example of Bordeaux wine from the Pauillac commune on the Left Bank of the Girdonde estuary. The vineyard area of Duhart-Milon is adjacent to that of Lafite. The history of Duhart-Milon began in the 18th Century, when at the urging of the owners of Lafite, began widespread grape cultivation in the Pauillac district. The Milon wines served as additional income for Lafite, but were soon recognized as being of exceptional quality. In addition, the soils here were also recognized as being perfect for growing grapes, loaded with gravels, sand and limestone ideal for great drainage.
The 1855 Classification of Bordeaux recognized Duhart-Milon for its quality, awarding it a 4th Growth - in fact the only 4th Growth in the entire commune of Pauillac. After several ownership changes during its history, it is still part of the Lafite family. Winery and vineyard renovations and upgrades have occurred, with many old vines now present in its lots.
