Chateau Massiac is located right in the heart of Minervois which is in France’s Languedoc-Roussillon region. The Chateau dates back to the Roman Empire and was originally started by two brothers from the Massiac region within the Auvergne, that negotiated the countryside for the King of Spain. The original estate was torched during the French revelation and is now run by the Boudouresques family.
Made from 75% Syrah and 25% Carignan, both certified organic, this succulent little red is perfectly suited to accompany a myriad of freshly charred goodies coming off the summer grill. The aromatics are bursting with both ripe, dark fruit and with dried rosemary, lavender and thyme. Tremendously saturated in flavor while retaining a softness, and lightness on the palate which again screams for food and wine partnerships. There is some complexity here as the flavors shift from tobacco to fruit, to savory herbs and back again. One would think a wine this stuffed would cost twice as much, luckily for us it does not!
