Chateau Vannieres 2018 Bandol Red, France
The Boisseaux family come from a long line of winemakers but not from the south of France originally, they are Burgundians, and I can always sense that, restraint when I smell and taste their wines from the much burlier Bandol. The estate has olive tress and plenty of wild growing local herbs called garrigue, the nose speaks of this which adds more intrigue. This is far from a shy red wine, there is that Bandol grip and tannin, that’s for sure but there is a aromatic finesse that makes it stand apart from many in the area. It wants lamb, stews, hearty flavors to pair with it. I recommend decanting to entice those aromas out even more.
