Clemens Busch 2020 Riesling Trocken 'Von Roten Schiefer', Mosel Germany
The Busch family was one of the first to practice organic-biodynamic farming and winemaking in the Mosel starting in 1984. Their steep Marienburg vineyards are in the village of Pünderich which lies right at the intersection of the middle and lower Mosel. All three colors (red, gray & blue) of slate are found in the vineyards and as a terroir specialist he bottles wines from each different color slate to show their unique characteristics. This wine is from the red slate soils (Vom Roten Schiefer) which gives the Riesling some spicy notes and a more lush and elegant texture. Lots of stone and tropical fruits are intertwined with wet-stone minerality keeping it fresh and dry on the palate.
