Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs from a producer with a feverish following. Very low dosage
The incredible Chardonnay based wines from Cazals are considered amongst many aficionados a hidden gem in in Champagne’s Cote des Blancs. Relatively unknown to most wine drinkers but cherished by industry and savvy restaurant wine list makers. The Cazals family settled in Le Mesnil-Sur-Oger in 1897 and is still family owned and operated. Delphine Cazals took over from her father in the 1990s and has created an nearly cult like following for her focused and intense Champagnes. This is a tightly wound and mineral rich Champagne with laser focus and achingly tiny bubbles. Tart green apples, seashells, roasted nuts and lemon oil all wrapped in dough. Very low dosage so the finish is clean and zippy.
