This is a truly special wine - there is literally no other wine like it produced on the planet. Made from grapes grown in the highest altitude vineyards on earth at 10,200-foot altitude, this wine has an otherworldly purity and intensity. The incredibly rare flagship wine of the Hess family's Colomé winery, there are only 20 barrels of this wine made. It is so difficult to grow grapes at this altitude that it's not made every year either. And what a wine it is! Off the scale intensity, purity and energy. Powerful and rich, there is strong dark plummy fruit on the intense nose, and a meaty, savory and a slightly floral quality as well. The explosive fruit is brooding and dark, all coiled intensity and complexity on the rich and penetrating palate. The wine is aged in neutral French oak for 24 months and, as is a trademark of high altitude fruit, it has abundant refreshing acidity and strong, intense but sweet fruit tannins from the dark skins that thicken up in the intense UV rays. And the talented French winemaker manages to keep everything in balance. Just an incredible mouthful of wine that must be experienced. This would make an incredible gift – it’s so rare we could only get three bottles. We recommend not waiting to buy this truly special wine.
