Cathy Corison made all the Chappellet wines during the 1980s. Then in 1986 she created the first vintage of her own label and she has been making artisanal Cabernet ever since. The Corison style is not a flamboyant one, rather it is more classic and restrained in style, owing more to the influence of Bordeaux than Parkerized cult Cabernets. The 2016 is a splendid example of that--the finest vintage I can remember from Cathy. It's a solid, well made wine with more traditional structure and black fruits. The finish is refreshingly dry, displaying a grown-up style of winemaking. 13.1% alcohol.
