The Dauvissat family has owned this notable domaine since 1899. Jean Dauvissat and his son Sebastien are managing it now. The estate has grown considerably since it was founded, and now manage and bottle their own wines rather than sell to negociants as in the past. Jean Dauvissat passed away as a result of an accident recently and his wife Evelyne now collaborate with Sebastien.

The domaine is about 10 hectares in size, and the premier cru vineyards face southeast. All are hillside sites with argilo-calcaire which features small stones providing excellent drainage. The entire vineyard surface is atop Kimmeridgian limestone. Elevage of the Premier Cru wines occurs mostly in stainless steel but a portion may be passed through oak based on harvest and wine-making decisions.

The Vaillons lies in the center of the Premier Cru hillside and have a south-southeast aspect.
