Domaine de Colette 2019 Beaujolais-Villages "Coteaux de Colette"
We’ve stocked the wines from Domaine Colette for a few vintages now, and have had glowing success with this village level, as well as their Cru Fleurie. The wines always way over deliver in their price category and each vintage seems to find new red wines lovers to impress. Add this supple and generous wine to the list folks. Absolutely nothing here not to love. The 2019 is a little riper and juicier.
The Gauthier family have been long time growers in Beaujolais but it was not until 1953 that the family began bottling wines under their own label. Over the years Jacky Gauthier has folded other family holdings into what we now know as Domaine Colette. Organically farmed with the upmost respect for farming clean, healthy fruit that is free from herbicides and pesticides. Sourced from several plots the Gamay for this Beaujolais comes from vines from 45-80 years old which gives this fun quaffing wine just a bit more tension and depth. Bright red fruit, a scrape of black pepper and flint with a soft mouthfeel and just the perfect touch of grip on the finish to make it a no-brainer with just about anything on the dinner table. Don’t just load up for Thanksgiving people this is a wine you will want to have on hand all season long.
