Domaine du Clos Naudin, Foreau 2016 Vouvray Sec, Loire Valley

I confess that I had forgotten about this stellar Chenin Blanc, just kept passing it by on the racks in the Loire Valley section until I felt the need to taste through the 2019s from Francois Chidaine that I was reminded, “Hey, let’s see where this wine is living right now” The entire staff was stunned by the texture here, just so full, generous and curvy, and that is from a vintage that was so weather wrecked that they couldn’t even make demi-sec or sweeter styled Vouvray. Herbal, pears, some red apple, and apricot on the palate with a broad and super rich mouthfeel. I just kept thinking, this with some pork loin or anything mushroom heavy would be so damn perfect. Or a ripe and gooey piece of Camembert would sing as well
