Authentic Loire Cabernet Franc from a domaine that has been growing vines in the region of Bourgueil since 1869.
This might come as sort of a shock to many of you but when it comes to French wines I am something of a, purist. I have strongly felt and oft shared opinions about wines that proudly display their lusty accent of places I crave being and there are fewer places in the world that express their soil/souls, than in France’s Loire Valley. Astoundingly diverse and authentic wines and still, for the most part, affordable. Cabernet Franc can be a love/hate grape for some but for me, oh I gots it bad for Cabernet Franc and find them to be even more noble than the far more famed and worshiped, Cabernet Sauvignon. I grabbed my tasting notebook to look up my notes for pocket friendly Bourgueil and I had I had written, before ordering a 5 case sack chunk, “Yes. Just, yes” This is a classic Loire Valley Cabernet Franc. Bright, full of tart cherries, green herby notes, bursting flowers and pencil/graphite. No oak detectable on the palate which leaves you with this refreshing pop, or zing, that coaxes you back for another sip, and another….Samantha Dugan
