Domaine Laurent Borgeot 2020 Santenay Blanc Clos de la Comme Dessus, Burgundy

What a delightfully rich and rewarding wine. You get some creamy notes on the nose, along with custard and a little caramel wrapped around green apples with a touch of toasted nuts. On the palate those flavors come through and then, “Boom!” a blast of mouthwatering citrus oil and minerals. For all that luscious fruit there is just the right amount of acid and tangy citrus to cut through it. I love this wine just to sip but it has big enough shoulders to do the whole roast chicken, white fish, creamy sauce deal too. 2020 was a very short vintage, Borgeot lost 70% of their fruit but what they had is truly resplendent.
